Adult Day Care	Adult day care centers provide a safe stimulating environment for persons needing some social supervision.
Adoption Agencies	The purpose of adoption agencies is to place a child permanently into a home for adoption. Licensed child placing agencies may also place a child temporarily in a foster home placement.
Child Placing	Providing custody or care for any child 18 years of age or under, temporarily or permanently.
Crisis Respite (Family Support Centers)	These programs are designed to offer immediate, temporary respite care (up to 72 hours) to protect children and to help families cope with crisis There is a parent support component that goes hand-in-hand with the crisis child care program.
Day Treatment Applicable Programs Aging Child/Family Disability Mental Health Substance Abuse Youth	Day treatment means specialized treatment for less than 24 hours a day, for four or more persons who are unrelated to the owner or provider. Anyone considering licensure for Day or Residential Treatment should apply for licensure prior to obtaining a physical facility, or providing any services.
Domestic Violence Shelters and Treatment Programs	These programs are designed to provide a safe haven for victims of domestic violence and the resources to obtain help in resolving crisis-related problems.
Foster Care Homes	Foster care is short-term placement of a child who is in the custody and guardianship of the State of Utah in a licensed foster home.
Intermediate Secure Care	24-hour specialized residential treatment with intensive supervision and security measures that include locked doors.
Mental Health Treatment Programs	Mental health programs provide services to people experiencing mental problems. These services include the following categories: residential treatment/support, day treatment, outpatient treatment.
Outpatient Treatment Applicable Programs Aging Child/Family Disability Mental Health Substance Abuse Youth	Outpatient treatment is provided to individuals, families, or groups. It is less structured than day or residential treatment and allows participants to return to their usual living environment after each daily therapy/counseling session.
Programs for People with Disabilities	The Office of Licensing licenses homes for disabled persons and day treatment sites where disabled persons work.
Residential Support Applicable Programs Aging Child/Family Disability Mental Health Substance Abuse Youth	Residential support programs arrange for or provide the necessities of life as a protective service to individuals or families who are experiencing a dislocation or emergency which prevents them from providing these services for themselves or their families. They provide a 24-hour group living environment for four or more consumers. Treatment is not a necessary component of residential support, however, treatment shall be made available on request.
Residential Treatment Applicable Programs Child/Family Disability Mental Health Substance Abuse Youth	In residential treatment programs consumers are assisted in acquiring the social and behavioral skills necessary for living independently in the community. These programs provide a 24-hour group living environment for four or more individuals while providing for or arranging for the provision of specialized treatment. Anyone considering licensure for Day or Residential Treatment should apply for licensure prior to obtaining a physical facility, or providing any services.
Resource Family Home	A home licensed to provide services to a child in the custody of the state, including foster care homes and legal risk homes.
Social Detoxification	Short-term residential services provided outside of a health care facility for persons who are intoxicated.
Substance Abuse Treatment Programs	Substance abuse programs provide treatment and rehabilitation services to those who are having difficulty with alcohol or drugs. Services offered include: social detoxification, residential treatment/support, day treatment and outpatient treatment.
Therapeutic Schools Applicable Programs Child/Family Disability Mental Health Substance Abuse Youth	Therapeutic schools provide a 24-hour group living environment for four or more youth while providing room and board, and an academic education integrated with specialized structure and supervision, or services related to a disability or to emotional, behavioral, familial or social development.
Youth Treatment Applicable Programs Child/Family Youth	Youth treatment programs provide a variety of services to minors including: temporary child placement, day treatment, outpatient treatment, residential support, residential treatment, intermediate secure treatment, and outdoor youth programs.
